After Hurricane Beryl hit the Gulf Coast earlier this month leaving hundreds of thousands without power, the Alabama Red Cross is urging people to create emergency kits in case disaster strikes closer to home.

“Everybody’s needs are going to be different,” said Annette Rowland with the Red Cross of Alabama-Mississippi. “If you think of being without power or being in a situation where you can’t have access to the things in your home that matter... What does you bag look like?”
