It will be the referee's first Hornets fixture for more than four years watfordfc
The West Yorkshire official has refereed seven fixtures so far this season, five of which have been in the second tier, and shown a total of 33 yellow cards and three reds.
This will be the former Premier League referee’s first Hornets fixture since January 2018 when he officiated the 1-0 FA Cup defeat at Southampton. Madley lost his job that summer after making an offensive joke but after moving to Norway where he officiated lower league matches, he returned to the English game two years later.
Jonathan Hunt and Lee Venamore are due to the assistant referees for Saturday’s fixture against the third-placed Royals, with Tim Robinson the fourth official.
