A referee is set to take charge of his first Championship game of the season tomorrow night when Watford aim to put consecutive defeats behind them at Sunderland.
Andy Davies has been appointed to officiate in the 7.45pm kick-off at the Stadium of Light where the Hornets will be bidding for their first away victory since January. The Hampshire official has refereed only three matches so far this season, all in League Two, and has shown a total of 14 yellow cards and no reds.
It has been almost three years since the former player last refereed a match involving Watford, but that ended in victory when Stoke City were beaten 3-2 at Vicarage Road in November 2020 thanks to a late winner from Ismaila Sarr. Graham Kane and Carl Fitch-Jackson are due to be the assistant referees for Wednesday night’s fixture, with Simon Mather the fourth official. We want our comments to be a lively and valuable part of our community - a place where readers can debate and engage with the most important local issues.
