A new poll reveals a dramatic shift in British politics, with Reform UK surging in support to within one percentage point of Labour. The Conservatives have been relegated to third place, marking a significant challenge to the traditional two-party system. Sir Keir Starmer faces a formidable parliamentary battle against two right-wing contenders.

Reform UK has surged in support, closing the gap to Labour by a mere percentage point in a new poll conducted for Sky News by YouGov. This poll suggests that Britain is entering a new era of three-way party politics. Sir Keir Starmer is poised to face a parliament dominated by a battle against two right-wing parties, as Labour support has experienced a sharp decline in the first YouGov poll since the general election.

The poll reveals a significant shift in the political landscape, placing the Conservatives in third place just two months after Kemi Badenoch's ascension as leader. Data collected over the weekend shows Labour at 26%, Reform UK at 25%, Conservatives at 22%, Liberal Democrats at 14%, and Greens at 8%. This represents a stark contrast to the general election results, when Labour held 35%, Conservatives 24%, Reform UK 15%, Liberal Democrats 13%, and Greens 7%. This is the inaugural weekly voting intention poll conducted by YouGov for Sky News, shared with The Times. It reflects a decline in public satisfaction with the government, a rise in support for Reform UK, and highlights the fragmentation of the Labour vote since the election. Labour has retained 54% of its general election vote, with 7% shifting to the Liberal Democrats, 6% to the Green Party, 5% to Reform UK, and 4% to the Conservatives. Notably, 23% of those polled either declined to answer, expressed uncertainty, or stated they would not vote. Reform UK's growth since the general election has come at the expense of all other parties, with 16% of voters who supported the Conservatives in the previous election now indicating support for Reform. The poll reveals a damning assessment of Sir Keir's first six months in office, with 10% expressing satisfaction and 60% dissatisfaction.Older voters have shown a noticeable shift away from Labour, with only 14% of those over 65 expressing intention to vote Labour, down from 22% around the time of the election. However, the poll also indicates that the Conservative party remains a potentially toxic brand. Reform UK emerges as the least unpopular party, with a net favourability rating of -32, followed by Labour at -34 and the Conservatives trailing at -45. YouGov surveyed 2,279 voters in Great Britain on Sunday 12 January and Monday 13 January
