Rwanda President Paul Kagame says refugees ‘are not our problem’ despite deal with UK to take asylum seekers
“We cannot keep being host to refugees for which, later on, we are held accountable in some way, or even abused about,” Mr Kagame said earlier this week.with the UK Government to take asylum seekers from Britain, process them in Rwanda and keep those whose applications are successful. “Those who think it’s Rwanda’s problem and not Congo’s, first of all, remove these Congolese from here,” he explained. It was unclear whether this applies to Congolese refugees who have made it to Britain, who may then get sent on to Rwanda.
