Readers of the Nottingham Post got in early one Sunday with some coupons - and got a special ribbon-cutting ceremony to boot.was a very special theme park. The American Adventure may have shut just over 15 years ago, but people still hold fond memories of it.
If you're pining for the days of Silver City, The Missile, and The Runaway Train, then these uncovered pictures from March 1991 might help. Nottingham Post readers got a free day out at the theme park thanks to some coupons - and we were there to capture it on camera. American Adventure opened in 1987, taking over from the ill-fated Britannia Park that operated for just 10 weeks back in 1985. It enjoyed its best days in the 90s, but a slow decline saw the owners announce its closure in 2007.
