David Gauke discusses the plans to allow House of Commons Speaker John Bercow to 'bypass' Boris Johnson for a Brexit extension, claiming he 'hopes the Government abides by the law'.
The new law would enable Mr Bercow to bypass the prime minister and go straight to Brussels on behalf of the Commons to prevent a no-deal Brexit. MPs plotting the new Act want Parliament to sit on Saturday, October 19, to pas the Bill, according to the Mail on Sunday. A senior Commons source said: “The rebels say that, if Boris wants to play with nuclear weapons, then so will they”.The Speaker of the House of Commons, who is due to step down on October 31.
