There are a number of bank holidays still to come in 2024
A new public holiday has been declared for the island of Jersey next month to allow people to celebrate the visit of King Charles III and Queen Camilla.
It will be the first time a reigning monarch has been to the island since the late Queen's visit in 2005, and the holiday is estimated to cost taxpayers in Jersey around £700,000 in wages, for people to cover civil servants taking the day off, according to the BBC. As Jersey is a self-governing island, separate from the UK in many respects, people living on British mainland will not get the same holiday on July 15.
