A new book reveals the amazing story of the Church of Scotland minister Fraser McLuskey, who became a World War II hero
He was the ‘Parachuting Padre’ dropped behind German lines armed with nothing but a bible and became the nation’s unlikeliest war hero. Rev Fraser McLuskey, an Army chaplain, survived being dropped into occupied France with the special forces in June 1944 carrying only a makeshift “ church ” in a wicker basket. The heroic Padre from Edinburgh travelled around Nazi-held territory ministering to the scattered men of the 1st SAS Regiment and bolstering morale as war waged across France.
