A new plastic-free poppy is available along with pin badges, jewellery, scarves, accessories and Christmas cards
The sight of a poppy seller with a collection tin raising money for Remembrance Day as November comes around is an enduring image in British life. But there are now new ways to purchase poppies in aid of the Royal British Legion and commemorate the fallen.
The plastic-free poppy is made entirely from paper, reinforcing the RBL's drive to be more sustainable and reduce its impact on the environment. The charity says the new design has a 40% smaller carbon footprint and it can be recycled in ordinary paper recycling collections. Director of the Poppy Appeal, Andy Taylor-Whyte, said: “We are very proud to introduce the plastic-free poppy that will not only enable people to support our Armed Forces community but also continues the RBL’s commitment to sustainability.
