A Renfrewshire toddler has been diagnosed with an incredibly rare condition which can keep her up for days.
The Daily Record reports that children with the condition often suffer from sleep disturbances and are referred to as "party children" because they can stay awake for days. Grace-Louise Darroch, now three, can stay awake across five or six days with only a few hours of sleep.Leeann, from Houston, Renfrewshire, said: "The doctors told us Grace-Louise had a very significant gene mutation and my heart just sank.
The three-year-old is now fed through a tube into her stomach, uses a walking frame, and can go for long periods of time where she is extremely animated with little sleep. "We would love for her to be able to walk independently and to be able to eat food and communicate with us. She is so cheeky and lively and we just want her to have the best chance at enjoying life.
