Lucas, who has served in Congress since 1995 and represents Oklahoma 's 3rd Congress ional District, is running to fill the seat occupied by Rep. Patrick McHenry, R-N.C., who's not seeking reelection.
"With 30 years of experience on the Financial Services Committee in addition to my more than two decades of committee leadership experience across multiple House committees, I am well positioned and well equipped to lead," Lucas said. The House Financial Services Committee has jurisdiction over issues related to the economy, the banking system, housing, insurance, and securities and exchanges. The committee has jurisdiction over monetary policy, international finance, international monetary organizations, and efforts to combat terrorist financing.
The Federal Reserve, the Treasury Department, the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Export-Import Bank and the Department of Housing and Urban Development are some of the agencies under the purview of the committee. Lucas has served on the House Financial Services Committee for almost 30 years. Reps.
