WASHINGTON — Far-right Rep. Majorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., made good on her threat Wednesday and filed a motion to oust Republican Speaker Mike Johnson from power over his decision to pass billions of dollars in military aid for Ukraine. She was booed by colleagues as she formally announced the effort on the House floor.
And nothing would prevent Greene or any other conservative foe from forcing another vote on Johnson’s fate down the road. “Mike Johnson is officially the Democrat Speaker of the House. ... What slimy back room deal did Johnson make for the Democrats’ support?” Greene said in a statement before filing her motion. Johnson has said he made no such deal with Democrats.
