Ann-Marie Thompson, a woman with a history of violent offences and robbery, has been sentenced to two-and-a-half years in prison after punching her victim during an attempted robbery. The incident occurred in Worksop, Nottinghamshire, where Thompson broke into the victim's house to steal money from her jacket.
A woman with a criminal history for robbery and violent offences left her latest victim suffering flashbacks as she punched her while trying to steal money from her jacket. Nottingham Crown Court heard how Ann-Marie Thompson climbed through a window to get to the coat knowing it contained money she was going to spend on drugs and drink.
“You punched her which left her with a bruise. I have heard how you left her concerned for her safety and suffering flashbacks and when you had the opportunity to put things right you didn’t. You could have pleaded guilty but you didn’t and you were convicted after a trial. The trial heard how the incident took place in Foxglove Close, Worksop, on October 22, 2023, and Thompson, of Cheapside, Worksop, was convicted of robbery by the jury.
Nottinghamshire Police said Thompson tried to rob a 17-year-old girl of money as she walked along Carlton Road. She then went on to rob a 58-year-old woman of her handbag in the underpass near Albion Close. When officers arrested her for these offences, she resisted arrest by trying to throw herself down the stairs, forcing an officer to hit his head on a wall.
