Many shoppers and customers have raised the apparent Visa issue on social media
Major UK supermarkets across the UK are said to be experiencing issues with card payments, as customers report problems with Visa and Mastercard transactions. Shoppers at Asda , Sainsbury's, Marks and Spencer, Tesco and McDonald's, among others, have reported that their cards are not working, forcing them to either use cash or abandon their purchases.
Glitterbeam radio tweeted: "Several businesses this morning are experiencing issues with card payments." They added: "Reports from customers in @marksandspencer @Tesco ,@asda, @sainsburys, @McDonaldsUK... and "Many stores are currently accepting just cash transactions". Asda acknowledged the issue, responding: "Thanks for sharing".One Twitter user, @vibsiboy, reported: "@asda Card payments not working at Asda Waterloo road, Wolverhampton.
@nickolls_anc tweeted: "Huge issues with card payments in @asda and ATMs in my area seems to be countrywide, with long queues, machines not working, card declined". @recycloplse added: " Oh dear it appears card payments are down in multiple businesses today. McDonald's, MandS and Tesco reporting card failure this morning," reports the Express.
