Republican's Chances of Beating Adam Schiff in California: Polls

Republicans having a slim chance to beat Democrat Adam Schiff in the upcoming Senate race, recent polls show.Schiff, a Democratic representative from California, announced plans to run for Senate in January, seeking to take the seat held by the late Dianne Feinstein. Republicans voted for former baseball star Steve Garvey in the primaries, setting up a race against Schiff.Schiff defeated fellow Democrats Representatives Katie Porter and Barbara Lee in the primaries.

According to the poll, 62 percent of California residents said they'd vote for Schiff compared to 37 percent for Garvey. The poll found Schiff receiving a slight increase in support from April, when 61 percent said they'd vote for him. Garvey's support remained the same from April to June.A 2023 poll conducted by the Los Angeles Times and the UC Berkeley Institute of Governmental Studies found Schiff holding a similar lead over Garvey.
