Emergency services scrambled to the scene
Firefighters rescued a casualty from a car following a crash on a busy Trafford road. Emergency services descended on the A560 Woodlands Road, in Altrincham , at around 11.30am this morning .
It followed a collision involving two vehicles. Two fire engines were called out to the scene, with crews required to use specialist equipment to release one person from a vehicle. They were helped by paramedics at the scene. Greater Manchester Police confirmed that one person was injured in the crash.Woodlands Road was closed westbound between Woodlands Parkway and the A538 Barrington Road while emergency services worked at the scene. The road has since reopened.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: "At just after 11.30am today , fire crews were called to reports of a road traffic collision on Woodlands Road in Altrincham. Two fire engines from Sale and Stretford, with the enhanced rescue unit from Ashton-Under-Lyne quickly attended the incident which involved two vehicles.
“Crews used specialist equipment to extricate one person from a vehicle before being treated by colleagues from North West Ambulance Service. Crews worked to make the area safe before departing after approximately 45 minutes at the scene.”
