Some say they can go for weeks without bins being collected
Residents living on one street in Preston say construction workers from a neighbouring development parking on their roads is 'an accident waiting to happen'.
70-year-old George Hall wrote to his local councillor after his bins had been missed the first time. He says when the bin wagon returned on the Thursday he thought all was well until the exact same thing happened again for the next two collection dates. Sophie, who lives at the top of the cul-de-sac, says the congestion around the area does make it difficult to get in and out of her road. "I can still get off the drive but it makes it a bit difficult getting off and on when they park opposite it. Coming out of the street on the main road when they've parked up at the side, you can only get one car there," She said.
Preston City Councillor for Ribbleton, Nick Pomfret, says the situation with the construction workers needs to be dealt with. He adds while CGA have communicated well with him, the issues remains with the on site employees. Lee Garry, Head of Asset Management said: “As you acknowledge, the parking of construction workers on public highways is not the direct responsibility of Community Gateway Association . However, we are working closely with Seddon Construction who are carrying out the works at the Miller Road site for us. Seddon Construction are using the maximum number of parking spaces available within the site and are looking at a number of options to minimise disruption in the neighbouring area.
