When officers arrived, they were shot at as they sat in their cars.Watch the latest news and stream for free onPolice declared an emergency about 9pm on Sunday for an area of Kirwan bordered by Dalrymple Rd, Kern Brothers Dr, Sandstone Dr, and Golf Links Dr.
“I’m pleased to report that no one is hurt as a consequence of the discharge of those weapons,” Acting Inspector Darren Randall said.Five vehicles were damaged by gunfire.The police operation began about 9pm on Sunday night.At the time residents within the exclusion zone were urged to stay inside their properties and lock their doors.Negotiators attended the incident and worked throughout the evening but “were unable to engage with him”, Randall said.
It’s understood officers ran from the scene when gunfire started, and took shelter in nearby homes where members of the public rendered assistance. “I thank everybody that was involved, I thank people for their patience, I thank the community of Kirwan for again respecting the PSPA boundaries overnight.
