Erewash Borough Council have provided two designs to choose from

A local council, which is spending £400,000 on a 'state-of-the-art' children's playground, wants residents to choose their favourite design. The area will become Erewash's largest fun zone for toddlers and juniors.

The two designs will compete against each other in a vote, with both of the suggested plans showing how kids in Long Eaton's West Park will get the very latest in play equipment. There will be separate areas for little ones. The council says the brief was to make the attraction “innovative and exciting” – as well as accessible for children with disabilities. Erewash scoured play areas around the country for inspiration, and work is poised to begin this summer, made possible by money from the Shared Prosperity Fund.West Park’s existing playground will be dismantled as part of the revamp.

Local people have until noon on Thursday, March 21 to vote for their favourite design. You can visit the Erewash Borough Council website and search for consultations, or by clicking the link here. Anyone without internet access can request a paper copy of the consultation form by calling 0115 907 2244. Erewash councillor Claire Marie Poole, who is lead member for health and wellbeing, said: “We’ve been through a rigorous tendering and selection process which has left us with two amazing designs. Which one is best? That is now up to our residents to decide.”
