Residents urged to keep windows closed as huge plumes of smoke billow from industrial estate
Huge plumes of smoke has been seen for miles after a large fire broke out in east Lancashire. Eight fire engines have descended on an industrial estate in Burnley.
Crews say they are likely to remain at the scene on Farrington Place, near Rossendale Road, 'for some hours'. Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service was first called out to the incident at 3.24pm today , Lancs Live reports. Firefighters are still bringing the blaze under control. Nearby residents have been urged to keep their windows and doors closed, with thick smoke seen above the area.In a statement, Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said: "At 3.
An update from the fire service at 4pm added: "Crews are likely to remain in attendance for some hours. If you are affected by smoke, keep all windows and doors closed. "Please avoid the area." Lancashire Police says it has closed 'multiple roads' near to the scene, with residents urged to avoid the area.
