Nottinghamshire County Council said no associated increase in crime, slips, trips or falls has taken place since the lights were installed

Residents in a Nottinghamshire town have expressed their concerns about streetlights 'not being bright enough' as days have gotten shorter. People living in Stapleford reported having to use a torch when walking their dogs, as the LED streetlights leave 'patches of darkness'.

"You have to take a torch with you now." She added that as a precautionary measure, she now wears a reflective band when she goes out at night and also tries to always be accompanied by her husband. Sara Hazeldine, also from Stapleford, said: "I don’t know about other areas of Stapleford but the street lighting on Eatons Road is really inadequate. I’m getting an outside light fitted to my house hopefully but without it I can hardly see to get to my front door."

The county council confirmed that police consultations were carried out prior to the streetlights being changed, ensuring there are no concerns. A spokesperson added that there has been no associated increase in crime, slips, trips or falls.
