Neighbours on Greenwood Avenue say they will take legal action after their homes were wrecked during the recent floods
A number of residents on a street that has been severely impacted by the floods during Storm Babet are demanding answers after their homes were 'engulfed' by water. Heavy rain hit the area on October 19, however, residents are saying nature isn't the only one to blame for the damage.
"A fireman told me the dog must have swam over the stair gate and gone upstairs and that's how he escaped. We'd just moved in and we gutted everything - everything we had here, doors, windows, flooring, curtains, it was all brand new. The couple are now worried about the lengthy process that's ahead of them. David said: "It's all chaos. We are waiting for our motherboard to be changed and reconnected and then our insurance company has to come out.
Vicky, who is a rehabilitation support worker for the NHS, says she was left without words after the disaster. She said: "There's nothing we can do now other than wait for everything to dry out and assess the damage. She recalled the frightening moments, saying: "It's just awful. Water was coming through the cracks in the door and when I went into the kitchen, it was coming through the washing machine, the dishwasher, the sink. It was like a horror movie.
