AN official of the Sugar Regulatory Administration on Tuesday said that the retail price of raw and washed sugar 'surprisingly' went up by P20 per kilo, which now sell at P90 per kilo.SRA Board Member and Planters' Representative Pablo Luis Azcona told The Manila Times that the retail prices of raw and washed sugar are almost the same with that of refined sugar.
Based on the data from the SRA, the prevailing prices of raw and washed sugar in September 2022 were P69.50 and P70 per kilo, respectively.At the same time, Azcona added that the prevailing price of refined sugar increased to P95 per kilo, which is within the P90 suggested retail price .Azcona said that the country has ample stocks of sugar with the ongoing milling and the arrival of 150,000 metric tons of imported sugar in November 2022.'Refined sugar is a lot better compared to last year.
