The show is running at the Grand Opera House in Belfast until Saturday, October 28
There is nothing better than discovering something truly magical you weren't expecting - and that is exactly what happened when I went to see 42nd Street.
With a natural talent for dancing and singing, Peggy soon catches the attention of the team putting together the new Julian Marsh show, Pretty Lady. She's accepted into the chorus but her fortunes soon take a turn when she has the challenge of rising to the occasion of taking on the role of leading lady.
The rest of the cast are flawless as well with Samantha Womack showing off her impressive vocal range as Dorothy Brock, the original star of the show. At times her character may seem unlikeable but she brings some brilliant comic moments and you can't help but warm to her by the end. The show truly does transport you to that magical time on Broadway and the dancing is nothing short of sensational with tap dancing numbers I wish I could watch over and over again. The ensemble's timing was impeccable and it really is an underappreciated form of the art.
The way the staging goes through so many changes is also something to behold. Taking us from behind stage to then making you feel as if you are on Broadway watching Pretty Lady. It is incredible.
