'Little surprises are what makes JustSo Festival special'
'WHOOOOOOAHHHH WE'RE HALFWAY THEREEEEEEEEEE'. As we follow the winding path through the woods there appears a large group of brightly dressed people, screaming Bon Jovi lyrics at the top of their voices, while wearing purple coloured headphones and dancing enthusiastically.
In its 13th year JustSo shows no signs of running out of steam, the weekend-long annual festival in the grounds of Rode Hall Cheshire is a bold and wildly successful concept. Delivered by the creative geniuses of 'Wild Rumpus', it's an intimate, ethical, imaginative family adventure that is truly unique.
Every now and then the whole lot will make a procession to the Footlights Stage, the main area of the festival, to announce the latest scores and update the scoreboard. It's a lovely wholesome thing, although apparently not without skulduggery, there were rumours of 'painting pebbles' this year - cue sharp intake of breath from the audience and much booing.
On the Footlights stage were a variety of brilliant acts. Festival faves, Thingumabob & The Thingumajigs, hailing from Salford, knocked out their ever popular set of 'good time music'. We enjoyed the Bobbysocks, a close-harmony alt-country band, delivering covers with an Americana twist. Razzomo, a gypsy-folk duo, managed to get the audience tapping their feet despite a 5-hour journey in a van to get there.
