It ended with the whole cast coming back on stage to sing Pretty Woman
Pretty Woman the Musical is still a fairly new show so I had no idea what to expect, as although I loved the film it was one I hadn’t watched in years. However, it was brilliant from start to end, and definitely one I would recommend watching, although I would probably leave the kids at home for this one.
The musical follows the life of Vivian who made a few bad choices which led to her becoming a hooker in Hollywood. After a chance encounter with a wealthy businessman, Edward Lewis, he asks her to stay with him for a week. The musical has all of the iconic moments from the film, such as Vivian telling the shopkeepers on Rodeo Drive they made “a big mistake, huge.”
The set was carefully designed and made for seamless transitions between scenes, but one of the best parts was the costumes. It was clear that so much time and effort had gone into the choices, especially for Vivian as the iconic opera red dress was recreated, as well as everything from her blonde wig and blue and white dress at the start.
Amber Davies and Oliver Savile both did an outstanding job as Vivian and Edward. I was also really impressed with Natalie Paris as Kit de Luca; her voice was just incredible. Ore Oduba portrayed the very different Mr Thompson and the happy man in Hollywood. He had the audience in stitches over and over again, especially when he popped up as the conductor of the orchestra.
Everyone did such a fantastic job and it’s definitely a musical I would watch again. , with many members of the audience giving a standing ovation and joining in with the song.
