s graduate whose stratospheric rise to fame will always be linked to British Royalty. Last year, Queen Elizabeth II attended the London native’s fashion show and honoured him with an Award bearing her name.

From that moment, Quinn stopped being a novice and all eyes are now on him. He is competing with big names for headlines and retail space, but he seems to handle himself just fine. His fashion recalls the great era of haute couture. The extravagant sartorial style of the young designer truly goes against the current, but also against morose geopolitics and all things pedestrian.Quinn invited the Philharmonic Orchestra – based in London’s Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall - and the Bach Choir to create a sound that put his guests in a trance-like state while his beautiful clothes captivated their sight. Mozart’s Requiem, Baron Lloyd-Webber’s Memory, and Handel’s Zadok The Priest provided an epic musical backdrop. There was something mature and grown-up about the thought out spectacle. The clothes were magnificent: blown-up featuring his signature floral and leopard prints, mermaid gowns, and imposing floor-sweeping capes. There were bows and balloon sleeves, the right amount of tulle, and marabou feathers. Quinn’s proposition is a dream for all who dream luxury and ostentation of the past. But fairy tale aside, the designer is beyond capable of delivering believable outfits that, despite not matching today’s non-stop lifestyle, will procure a little bit of fantasy to customers seeking outstanding clothes. For the grand finale, a group of charming schoolgirls in pink floral dresses and white feathered hoods walked with their adult counterparts. It’s a message to all little girls that the princely world they often dream off, can become a reality, with the help of their newfound fairy godfather. At the very end, a tableau composed of models wearing scintillating bridal dresses put the exclamation mark to the formidable show. It’s sometimes difficult to believe that such beauty doesn’t originate from gushy couture salons in Paris, but from a relatively small design studio in London let alone located under a railway arch in Peckham, South London. Nobody would believe it, but now they see it. Richard Quinn is walking steadily into the footsteps ofCredit:
