Liam O'Prey, 21, is charged with the murder of Rico Burton
A man who died following an alleged fight in Altrincham was facing trial, court papers have revealed. Rico Burton, 31, died following an incident on August 21 on Goose Green.
The court heard that Mr Burton was awaiting a trial in relation to this. However, due to his death, the case has officially been closed. Speaking at the hearing, Judge Bernadette Baxter said: “This is the case of Rico Burton, who was charged with an offence of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, which had taken place on August 21 2018. The matter was awaiting trial.“The cause of death has been recorded as a stab wound. There has been a great deal of local publicity about the death of this man, and somebody has since been charged with his murder and is awaiting trial.
Liam O’Prey, 21, of Little Moss Lane, Swinton , Salford, is accused of murder in relation to Mr Burton’s death and a preliminary trial date has been set for next year.
