“If you go on YouTube and you type in ‘anti-feminism’, you might get a video that sort of talks about feminism and its ‘issues’. And then the algorithm will take you to like a Jordan Peterson-esque video, and before you know that algorithm has taken you to some really extreme content,” he said.

Secondly, children need to be “innocculated” against extremism in school. “We need to start seriously considering introducing lessons on dealing with information online schools on a national curriculum level,” said Mr Brace. Neither Suella Braverman, the Home Secretary, or Gillian Keegan, the Education Secretary, have spoken publicly about plans to tackle radicalisation among young people in Britain since taking office last year.
