Rio Ferdinand reveals 'extra reason' to come back to Manchester - and it's not football
Rio Ferdinand has revealed how a dinner with friends led to him investing in a Manchester-based delivery business.
As well as CEO Dwain McDonald, the company's top team includes co-founder and chief operations officer Gemma Taylor and co-founder Lance Jones as executive chairman. "I really believe in this. There isn't another player in the market that does it as efficiently or as well and brings that transparency and connection to the driver and to the consumer as DeliveryApp.
Asked whether DeliveryApp's position in the city was a selling point, he said: "It makes it a little bit of an extra reason to come back to Manchester outside of football which is good. "I want the business to scale up and make sure it makes the right acquisitions in terms of personnel to come and help with that at different levels of the business", he said.
"But if it's not a product or investment where there's anything for me to add in terms of value then I'm very happy to stay outside and let the people that are more qualified do their magic."
