Manchester United icon Rio Ferdinand has expressed his belief that Jonny Evans should never have been let go by the club under Louis van Gaal.
His United career ended on a controversial note when he was accused of spitting at Newcastle striker Papiss Cisse in March of that year, leading to a six-match ban. "As soon as they sold him, I said, 'Woah, who sanctioned this? ' He's arguably your best defender, experienced as well. He's experienced more than you and Chris Smalling. I was like, 'You can't let him go'.
