The Prime Minister has hailed a 'breakthrough' in Britain's relationship with the EU but a number of key figures including Boris Johnson are reserving judgement
Speaking in Windsor, Mr Sunak said: “Today’s agreement delivers smooth-flowing trade within the whole United Kingdom, protects Northern Ireland’s place in our union and safeguards sovereignty for the people of Northern Ireland.” Ms von der Leyen added: “This new framework will allow us to begin a new chapter. It provides for long-lasting solutions that both of us are confident will work for all people and businesses in Northern Ireland.
After his summit in Windsor and a Cabinet meeting, Mr Sunak urged MPs to back his deal, telling the House of Commons: “It does what many said could not be done, removing thousands of pages of EU laws, and making permanent legally binding changes to the Protocol treaty itself.
