BREAKING: Rishi Sunak has told Volodymyr Zelensky ‘we are with you all the way’ amid Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
A video of the pair meeting has been shared by No 10’s official Twitter account.
In Kyiv, Mr Sunak laid flowers at a memorial for the war dead and lit a candle at a memorial for victims of the Holodomor famine, before meeting emergency personnel at a fire station.He added: ‘I am proud of how the UK stood with Ukraine from the very beginning. And I am here today to say the UK and our allies will continue to stand with Ukraine, as it fights to end this barbarous war and deliver a just peace.
He had seemed to forge a strong friendship with President Zelensky, who previously said he was ‘happy’ when the Tory survived a no confidence vote.Children play with a plastic gun and an Ukrainian flag in the newly liberated streets of Kherson city Mr Sunak’s visit to Ukraine comes as official figures have been released on the children injured during Russia’s invasion.
