The Co-Chair of All Party Parliamentary Group on State Pension Inequality for Women has issued a warning ahead of the Conservative Party's conference in Manchester

A key Conservative figure has said the party must commit to supporting WASPI women and fixing the "long-running injustices" they have faced. Peter Aldous, the MP for Waveney and Co-Chair of All Party Parliamentary Group on State Pension Inequality for Women, warned it is both "both morally right and politically necessary" to support the WASPI campaigners.

The Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman has already concluded the Department for Work and Pensions was committed maladministration by failing to properly inform affected women.READ MORE: Pensioner given £17,000 after National Insurance record mistake uncovered In May Labour MP Rebecca Long Bailey asked Mr Sunak if he would commit to the fair and fast payment of any compensation that is recommended by the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman.

Some have accused ministers of hiding behind the process to avoid giving a proper commitment and Mr Aldous stepped up the pressure ahead of the conference in Manchester. Writing on the Conservative Home website, he said the campaigners should be "commended for their determination and level-headedness".
