Six months on from his launch of his five priorities for the year, Rishi Sunak is under attack on two flanks on the boldest of them all, his"stop the boats" pledge.
The migration mutiny from the right flank, which includes many Red Wall Tory MPs and some elected in 2017, came with publication of a 40-page pamphlet entitled The New Conservatives' plan to cut immigration. But where was the poster boy of the Red Wall, Conservative deputy chairman Lee Anderson, who'd been billed to appear and put his name to the policy blueprint? He was nowhere to be seen.The reason, according to Tory MP Danny Kruger, was"a terrible sick bug". Really? A more likely explanation was that he'd by nobbled by Number 10 and told he'd be sacked if he attended the rebels' event.
