The Waterfoot Wakes parade will be taking place in Rossendale
A river-inspired parade will snake its way from Edgeside Park to Waterfoot centre on Saturday, July 13, led by brightly-coloured street band Cacophony Arkestra. The community has been encouraged to make their own entries for the Waterfoot Wakes parade at a series of free workshops held in schools and at the Horse and Bamboo Theatre in Bacup Road, Waterfoot.
“We have been working with St John’s School Stonefold, Balladen Primary, Newchurch Primary and Waterfoot and lots of people have come along to the community-making sessions. Our 10-day event begins on Friday, July 12, when eight-piece brass party band Klonk will be playing at the Horse and Bamboo Theatre in the evening.
Once the procession arrives in Waterfoot, there will be performances by different groups on Waterfoot Play Park and further events, including a showing of The Old Time Rags Travelling Show and Cotton Shed Theatre’s Shhhhh, at the Horse and Bamboo Theatre. The performance has been created in conjunction with the Royal Northern College of Music and IoT Horizon. Baby Boo Takeover Day on Wednesday, July 17, will see the whole of the Horse and Bamboo building ‘invaded’ by early years children aged up to four.
