The baby Rivian's styling looks even better when combined with elements from the cars that inspired it
In designing the new R3 and its tougher-looking twin, the R3X, Rivian could have easily fallen into the trap of creating something that looks futuristic and screams, ‘Look at me, I’m an EV!’ Instead, as Rivian's own chief designer recently explained, the team has drawn inspiration from some of the most iconic European hot hatches and coupes from the 1980s. The result is a shape that is already receiving universal praise.
Read: New Rivian R3 And R3X Promise To Combine Affordability With 300+ Mile Range Staying true to its source of inspiration, the Renault 5 Turbo-inspired variant boasts a vibrant blue hue, accentuated by the signature blue and silver rally-style wheels. Adding to its rally-inspired look, the model features small yellow fog lights positioned at the front, completing its homage to the iconic French hatch.
