RNLI teams on the north-east coast will include parents and their children on call for Christmas Day.
Anna Heslop and her mum Kay will both be on-call for Cullercoats RNLI on Christmas DayDr Kay Heslop, a volunteer at Cullercoats, Tyne and Wear, said she was "immensely proud" to be on duty with her lifeboat helm daughter Anna.
Dr Heslop, an assistant professor at Northumbria University, will be ready to assist her 27-year-old daughter, who is a full-time RNLI fundraiser and helm of the Cullercoats inshore lifeboat. "I dropped her off at the lifeboat station and distinctly remember standing outside in the moonlight in my pyjamas.
