A Connecticut woman's harrowing encounter with road rage led to her car being vandalized and a large-scale police search for the suspect. Alison McIntire described being aggressively tailgated and forced off the road before the assailant exited his vehicle and kicked her car. The suspect fled the scene, prompting a widespread search that involved K9 units, surveillance footage, and lockdowns at local businesses and schools.

Alison McIntire described her terrifying experience while driving on Interstate 84 in Southbury, Connecticut. Just before 9 a.m., a man aggressively tailgated her, forcing her to move over. He continued to harass her, trying to run her off the road before slamming on his brakes in front of her. When McIntire couldn't avoid him, the man exited his vehicle and began kicking her station wagon.

A truck driver behind McIntire witnessed the incident and emerged from his vehicle, yelling at the assailant. This startled the man, who got back into his car and fled the scene. McIntire's car sustained significant damage, with dents on the passenger side door and hood, along with the man's footprints. Her side mirror was also hanging precariously. McIntire expressed shock and disbelief at the man's actions, stating she couldn't understand his motive. She contacted Connecticut State Police, who informed her she was the second victim of this man's road rage that morning. Relieved to have remained unharmed, McIntire thanked her quick thinking for not engaging with the clearly agitated individual. State police launched an extensive search for the suspect, securing the I-84 East rest area in Southington and deploying K9 units. Their investigation led them to Sign Pro, where a K9 tracked the suspect's scent to the fence line. Peter Rappoccio, the owner of Sign Pro, reported that troopers combed through hours of his surveillance footage and were informed by officers on the scene about a brandished gun and machete, along with the suspect abandoning his vehicle at the rest area and fleeing on foot. Rappoccio added that the suspect's alleged rampage began in Cheshire, where he reportedly broke out of a barricade between two officers and struck two vehicles. The incident caused widespread concern in the area, leading to lockdowns at local businesses and schools. Hope Roecker, owner of Lather and Laughs Dog Groomer and Daycare, implemented a lockdown for everyone's safety. She expressed sadness about the situation and hoped for the suspect's swift capture and the opportunity for him to receive help. The search for the suspect continued throughout the day, with state police remaining tight-lipped about the specifics of the investigation
