Reds legend impressed with Bradley's rise at Anfield as he hopes for more players from across the Irish Sea to progress
Fowler made his first start for the Reds as a fresh-faced 18-year-old scoring in a 3-1 League Cup win over Fulham and he never looked back. Rising to those expectation levels at a club like Liverpool is a tough thing to do and it can swallow experienced player never mind youngsters making their their first appearances in the game.
"It just shows that going out on loan probably really benefited him. Going out and playing first team football in an adult game has probably been, not the making of him as we all know he's a talented player, but it aided him to become this player who looks very accomplished, very confident and very comfortable in the position of right back.
There was always a strong contingent of players from across the Irish Sea in the Liverpool team when Fowler was growing up. The likes of Ronnie Whelan, Mark Lawrenson, Steve Staunton and Ray Houghton were parts of the Reds most successful side. "I don't know if Brexit has played a part in more players coming over in the past few years. Football though tends to go in cycles and hopefully now there will be a cycle of more players coming over, not just to Liverpool, but to other clubs as well for the benefit of the national teams here.
