Mohamed Salah wants to stay at Liverpool. The Egyptian made headlines after playing a starring role in the Reds’ 3-0 victory over Manchester United on Sunday when he admitted it was his last year at the club.
Yet like the Egyptian now, Firmino wanted to stay put at Anfield with his family settled on Merseyside. The Brazilian’s example demonstrates that sometimes such a desire is not enough. In his autobiography, ‘Si Senor’, released last year, he recalled how his Liverpool exit unfolded. He started the 2022/23 season having been told the Reds also wanted him to stay put , yet come March 2023, he too took the decision out of the club’s hands and decided to move on.
