A Federal Aviation Administration database shows 92 animal hits close to airports in Alaska last year, with 10 incidents occurring in Fairbanks. After regulators rejected a plan to utilize flying drones spraying a repellent that included grape juice, the notion of using a robot emerged.
The robot can assume the appearance of a fox or a coyote by swapping out its detached panels. “The only goal of this is to act as a predator and allow us to invoke that response in wildlife without having to use other means,” said Marlow to Canadian legislators last week.
