Get ready for April 8 by checking out our Total Solar Eclipse page, with everything you need to know for the big day!The Boys & Girls Club of Rochester hosted a March Madness viewing party Thursday, March 21, 2024, cheering on Rochester native Melvin Council Jr., who is now a member of Wagner College's men's basketball team, as they took on the University of North Carolina's men's basketball team.

The club held a viewing event cheering on Melvin Council Jr. of Wagner College as his team faced off against the No. 1 seed North Carolina Tar Heels squad. "I try to tell all of the kids, if you work hard, you can end up where Melvin is at yourself," said Reginald Smith, health and physical education coordinator for the Boys & Girls Club of Rochester. "Kids now are actually seeing some homegrown ."

While Wagner ended up losing to UNC, it's no question the Rochester native is inspiring the next generation of local basketball players.
