Rochester , N.Y. — The Genesee Valley Park Pool on Elmwood Avenue and Durand Eastman Beach on Lakeshore Boulevard will open for the summer season on Monday, June 24.
While swimming is free of charge at Durand Eastman, Mayor Malik Evans has waived weekend and some weekday swimming fees at the GVP pool.Open SwimSaturday and Sunday: Noon to 3:45 p.m. Saturday and Sunday: 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.From Monday, July 8 through Monday September 2, the GVP pool will change to the following schedule:Saturday and Sunday: Noon to 3:45 p.m. Saturday and Sunday: 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Located in Genesee Valley Park, the GVP Sports Complex is an all-season facility with an outdoor, Olympic-sized swimming pool that includes a water slide, along with a ramp and portable lift to assist persons with disabilities. The facility also offers a full locker room. For more information, call 428-7888.
For daily water conditions at Durand Eastman Beach and to ensure the beach is open for swimming, call the Monroe County Beach Information Line at 753-5887. The hotline is updated each morning.
