Participants of the Rochester River Run/Walk 5K will follow the route along the Genesee River on Sunday, April 21, 2024, crossing through Genesee Valley Park and the University of Rochester campus.
Rochester, N.Y. — The Rochester River Run/Walk 5K and Organ Transplant Ceremony is taking place Sunday morning.and serve as an opportunity to gather together recipients and families to honor organ donors and transplant recipients while raising awareness and funds for patients and families. The event supports patients awaiting and recovering from organ transplant surgery at Strong Memorial Hospital and has raised more than $330,000 since its inception in 2001. Its goal is to directly supplement patient care needs with emergency financial assistance.
About 700 participants will follow the route along the Genesee River on Sunday morning, beginning at 10:30, crossing through Genesee Valley Park and the University of Rochester campus. The closing ceremony will include an award presentation and commemoration of the memories of past donors and transplant recipients.
