Rochester , N.Y. — A woman already facing federal charges after she allegedly kept her boyfriend's body in her basement to continue receiving social security benefits after his death now faces a state charge, along with her son, for concealing a corpse.

Wendy Stone's boyfriend, Kenneth Crisman, 66, died Dec. 28, 2022 of a fentanyl overdose, according to police. Officers found Crisman's body Sept. 4, 2023 in the basement of his home on Bryan Street, wrapped up in a tote in the basement. Investigators determined Wendy Stone, then 62, and her son Cody James Stone, then 24, had concealed Crisman's body and collected social security payments that should have ended upon his death, according to Rochester police.Both suspects were released on pre-trial supervision.

The federal charges Stone was arrested on Aug. 8 include theft of government funds, aggravated identity theft, and making a false statement to obtain social security benefits.
