Colorado sweeps three-game series in San Diego for first time since 2013
Colorado Rockies’ Jordan Beck celebrates with third base coach Warren Schaeffer after hitting a two-run home run during the sixth inning of a baseball game against the San Diego Padres, Wednesday, May 15, 2024, in San Diego. He had a 0-4 record and a 12.12 ERA. He made an emotional admission, saying that being part of the 2021 trade that sent Nolan Arenado to St. Louis had gotten into his head.
Gomber received oodles of support, especially from rookie left fielder Jordan Beck, who broke out in a big way. Beck hit his first major league homer, drove in five runs and came up a triple short of hitting for the cycle. Colorado pounded the Padres for 12 hits. While Colorado’s offense has finally emerged from hibernation, the starting pitching is the foundation of the team’s 180-degree turn. Over the last 12 games, the rotation has a 3.34 ERA.
