The rockstar was set to perform yesterday when he was forced to cancel his gig alongside Cyndi Lauper and Jon Stevens just hours before it was due to begin when he came down with a viral infection.
Rod Stewart has sent a message to fans saying he is "absolutely downhearted" after being forced to cancel a gig due to illness.
Rod has now confirmed that he has come down with a viral infection and is unable to sing, adding that he is "only human and sometimes get sick".Sharing a message on social media: the Maggie May hitmaker said: "Hello my friends. I'm absolutely downhearted that I'm disappointing my fans who bought tickets to A Day On The Green.
"My greatest joy is performing for you, so I'm doing everything I can to get on the mend and back on stage!" "We apologise for the disappointment and inconvenience to ticket holders. A further announcement regarding the concert arrangements will be made early next week."
