Rock legend Rod Stewart popped into his local town centre and ended up putting his name to a petition against a controversial new double yellow lines project proposed by the local council.
The singer was driving his white Ferrari when he got chatting to local shop owners in Sawbridgeworth, Herts. When they told him of new plans to prevent cars parking in the town centre he was only too pleased to sign the petition. After signing the 79-year-old multi millionaire - whose hits include “I am Sailing” and “Maggie May” and was met by town councillor and former mayor Greg Rattey who is vehemently against the proposals and who thanked Stewart for signing.House of Harlequin shop owner Berrin Lee said she was delighted Stewart had signed the petition.Top news stories today Stewart is seen as a local hero in the area after he helped fill potholes on a road near his home in 2022.
